Every week films get a second chance at success from the home market; or, in some cases, a first chance at success. It was a strange week for DVD releases, whilere there are 18 releases on the list, fully half of them are TV on DVD and most of the rest of older films. Only two new releases,
The Fog of War -
Buy from Amazon and
In America -
Buy from Amazon are on my rental list. And none are on my to buy list.

Only two films topped $10,000 per theatre this week, but the race was top spot was close enough to make it an interesting weekend on the per theatre charts. Touching the Void remained in first place with $14,837, down just 24% percent from last weekend. In second place with $14,311 was Latter Days. In an unusual turn of events, Big Fish saw its per theatre average jump this weekend to $20,356 in 125 theatres. This bodes very well for this Friday when it expands into more than 2000 theatres. Next weekend it may no longer be on top on the per theatre average chart, but should place well on the top five overall.

Taking top spot on the Per Theatre Charts in consecutive weeks is not an easy task, but that's just what Big Fish did this week. And it did it by keeping nearly 80% of its premiere audience landing at $27,440 per theatre. Add in a few awards / nominations and an early January wide release and it could add up to box office hit.
