Theater Averages: 2001 Re-Release Remains Tops
May 30, 2018
2001: A Space Odyssey remained in first place on the theater average chart with $24,810 in four theaters. The number one film, Solo: A Star Wars Movie, was next with an average of $19,270. The Gospel According to Andre earned an average of $11,951 in four theaters. First Reformed remained in the $10,000 club with an average of $10,064 in 29 theaters during its second weekend of release.
The were not many new limited releases, but at least none of them bombed. How Long Will I Love U earned an average of $8,901 in 23 theaters. This is really good for a foreign-language film and a sign that Chinese movies are finding an audience here. How to Talk to Girls at Parties earned an average of $6,337 in two theaters, which is much better than its debut in Canada last week. The second Elle Fanning film of the week, Mary Shelly, earned an average of $6,285 in two theaters. Summer of 1993 and Who We Are Now were neck-and-neck with average of $5,327 and $5,188 respectively. Finally there is The Misandrists with $3,278 in its one theater, which is better than expected, considering how non-mainstream this movie is.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple of Per Theater Chart alumni:
