While there were plenty of new releases reaching the top 30 on the sales chart this week, a holdover, Law Abiding Citizen, remained in top spot. During its second week of release it sold an additional 353,000 units, lifting its total to 1.18 million units sold and $11.97 million in total sales.

Couples Retreat climbed one spot to third place, adding 188,000 units / $3.01 million in sales for the week for 1.76 million units / $28.10 million after three. The Informant! was the best new theatrical release on this week's chart, but it barely placed fourth with 169,000 units / $2.92 million. The Box was right behind with 168,000 units sold, but thanks to a higher average price it placed second in terms of sales at $3.36 million.
Just missing the top five were Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant with 142,000 units sold and $2.55 million, while Everybody's Fine was right behind with 128,000 units and $2.56 million. The only other new release to chart this week was Sorority Row, which opened well back in 16th place with 85,000 units / $1.57 million.
Overall, Blu-ray sales climbed 13% to $21.0 million for the week, 77% higher than the same week last year. In relation to DVD, Blu-ray represented 13% of total sales and 26% of the top 20 comparison, which is the best High Definition has done for almost the entire year.
