Per Theater Chart: Damsels in Delight
April 10, 2012
Damsels in Distress topped the per theater chart with an average of $14,647 in four theaters. This suggests some potential to expand, although it is too soon to tell if the film will earn some measure of mainstream success. Bully slipped to second place with an average of $12,292 in six theaters, but it should expand now that it has been given a PG-13 rating. We Have a Pope surprised with an average of $10,456 in three theaters.
Only one other new limited release did well, as Housefell 2 managed an average of $7,000 in 121 theaters. The rest ranged from disappointing to even worse than that. The Hunter opened with an average of $4,758 in four theaters. Keyhole managed $3,200 in its lone theater. Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope opened with an average of $2,734 in its three theaters, which is weak, but the film also opened VOD, which tends to hurt a film's box office numbers. Surviving Progress barely avoided the Mendoza Line with an average of $2,081 in two theaters. ATM wasn't as lucky with an average of $1,017, also in two theaters.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple Per Theater Chart alumni:
