The first full week of the month is usually quite busy, however, since the DVD coming out tomorrow had to be shipped in July, this is not the case this time around. In fact, there was only one contender for DVD Pick of the week,
V for Vendetta -
2-Disc Special Edition, and since I'm 90% sure an even better Ultra Edition is coming out, it fails to win that coveted honor. Next week we should have a much better selection of DVDs.

There's a huge selection of limited releases this weekend with nine film's listed below. And that's not counting the nearly half-a-dozen films expanding to take advantage of their
Oscar Nods. On a side note, as you can probably tell by how late this story is, I am still sick. Good news, I'm over the worst of it. Bad news, according to the news story I saw, the symptoms should last another one to two weeks. (You know a particular strain is bad when they do a story about it on the local news.)

As you can probably guess from the grammatically incorrect headline,
In Good Company took top spot on the Per Theatre Charts with an amazing $50,583 average in three theatres over the weekend and a total of $225,000 since the film opened on Wednesday. Coming in second is the oldest film in the $10,000 club,
Million Dollar Baby, which saw its per theatre average jump to $30,164 in nine theatres and has already topped $1 million during its limited run.
Hotel Rwanda also saw its per theatre average climb and earned $20,340 in 7 theatres and needs to expand quickly to take advantage of its strong start. Oscar hopeful,
The Merchant of Venice, started well with nearly $70,000 over the weekend and over $100,000 since its Wednesday opening, which works out to a $17,467 average in 4 theatres. Rounding out the $10,000 club was the overall box office leader,
Meet the Fockers with an average of $11,845.

It's been a lonely few weeks on the per theatre charts as once again only one film topped $10,000 per theatre average. It was the
road trip film,
The Motorcycle Diaries that topped the charts with an incredible $53,273 average in 3 theatres. I expect to see this film on the charts for a few more weeks.
