Synopsis
Peter Wright’s much-loved 1984 production is a festive treat for the whole family and a classic with a special place in the hearts of ballet fans around the world. It’s Christmas Eve and young Clara and her enchanted nutcracker doll are swept away on a magical journey from the family living room to the Kingdom of Sweets. Tchaikovsky’s sumptuous score, Julia Trevelyan Oman’s gorgeous stage designs and The Royal Ballet’s captivating dancing — including a sublime pas de deux for the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Prince — makes for a charming and magical experience.
