Synopsis

After a bank robbery gone wrong, three brothers head for home...only to discover that their mother lost the house in a foreclosure. The new owners and their guests, gathered for an ill-timed birthday party, become the brothers' unwitting hostages. Their mother and sister arrive, and it soon becomes obvious that Mother will do absolutely anything to protect her children. In one terrifying evening, Mother brilliantly takes control of the situation and masterminds her sons' escape. Sides will be taken, secrets revealed, and sins punished as the hostages struggle to make it through the night.

DVD and Blu-ray Releases for May 8th, 2012

May 7th, 2012

It's yet another very slow week on the home market. Boy, I feel like a broken record saying that every week, but it is true. It's especially true this week, as I'm having trouble picking out any release that is worth of Pick of the Week. In the end I went with a Doctor Who release. There are three of them coming out this week, but Story 153: The Happiness Patrol is the only one that is truly good, as opposed to the other two, which are weak installments that have a few fans that defend them. The Best Exotic Limited Releases

May 4th, 2012

It's a good week for limited releases, mostly because it is the week The Best-Exotic Marigold Hotel comes out. Given its international run, its chances at success on the domestic front are very strong. There are a couple other new releases that I'm cautiously optimistic about: Death of a Superhero and First Position. Perhaps summer will get off to a strong start on the limited release front as well as the wide release front. More...

Limited Releases Try to Take on God of Thunder

May 6th, 2011

It is officially the beginning of summer, at least according to the movie industry. And while most eyes are on Thor, there's a bundle of limited releases trying to compete for limited box office dollars. I'm not overly bullish on most film's chances. There are a few films opening in way too many theaters, some that are opening with Tomatometer scores that would be terrible for wide releases, etc. There are also a few with good reviews or some advanced buzz, but going the limited release route is always a risk. Let's hope some can escape it. More...
