It's a very busy week for DVD and Blu-ray releases with several top-tier releases, as well as plenty of interesting catalog titles. Paradoxically, this week's list could be rather short, as I've previously reviewed most of the major releases, while I'm still waiting on about half of the catalog titles to show up. So this week's list is mostly just links to the reviews already done and notices of what reviews to look forward to if / when late screeners arrive. In the meantime, the best of the best is a three-horse race between Tangled, Black Swan, and Mad Men: Season Four. In another sign of the dominance of 3D at the box office right now, How to Train Your Dragon enjoyed another strong performance and returned to the top of the box office chart this weekend, according to studio estimates released on Sunday.
With a drop of just 23% from last weekend, Dragon now stands at $178 million, and it's likely to grow that number considerably between now and the release of Shrek Forever After on May 21.
The Back-up Plan, meanwhile, posted a somewhat disappointing $12.25 million.
That's considerably better than CBS Films' previous release, Extraordinary Measures, but decidedly middle-of-the-pack compared to Jennfier Lopez' other opening weekends.

Hubble 3D was the last film in the $10,000 club with an average of $10,536 per theater, while The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo just missed that mark with an average of $9,868.

After Avatar's domination at the beginning of the year, 2010 is really shaping up to be the year of 3D movies.

A large list of limited releases this week, including a few that are opening large for a limited release. The Runaways is the biggest limited release of the week, perhaps too big, but The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is earning the best reviews.
