Synopsis

The year is 1984, and on the rural East Coast of New Zealand "Thriller” is changing kids' lives. Inspired by the Oscar nominated Two Cars, One Night, BOY is the hilarious and heartfelt coming-of-age tale about heroes, magic and Michael Jackson. Boy is a dreamer who loves Michael Jackson. He lives with his brother Rocky, a tribe of deserted cousins and his Nan. Boy’s other her, his father, Alamein, is the subject of Boy’s fantasies, and he imagines him as a deep sea diver, war hero and a close relation of Michael Jackson. In reality he’s "in the can for robbery." When Alamein returns home after seven years away, Boy is forced to confront the man he thought he remembered, fine his own potential and learn to et along without the hero he had been hoping for.

Weekend Estimates: Huge Weekend for Lorax Keeps Box Office on Track

March 4th, 2012

Universal will be celebrating this weekend as their good year gets a whole lot better thanks to the estimated $70 million opening of The Lorax. While not a record for March (a mark held firmly by Alice in Wonderland with $116 million), that will be enough for either second or third on the all time March openers list, basically level with 300's debut in 2007. Given its $65 million - $70 million production budget, the film will be a huge boost for the studio's animation arm. It also means that this weekend will be about 25% ahead of the same weekend last year. More...

Limited Releases Look to Earn a Billion Dollars

March 2nd, 2012

It's quite a busy week in terms of limited releases with nine films on this week's list. There are a couple that are earning very strong reviews, like Boy and Last Days Here. There are also a couple opening wider than the average limited release, like Paan Singh Tomar and Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. Unfortunately, the widest release of the week, Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie, is also earning some of the weakest reviews of the week. More...
