This Week on VOD: Never, Rarely, Sometimes, Always, and Others

There are only four films on this week’s VOD release list and only two of them are earning good reviews. Never, Rarely, Sometimes, Always is the better of these two films and it is absolutely worth checking out. Military Wives is one of those feel-good films that could be really nice to watch right now, even if it isn’t a classic.

I was looking forward to this movie, because I’m a fan of a some of the cast and the trailer looked really intriguing. Unfortunately, the reviews are awful. On the positive side, it only costs $3 to rent on Vudu, so it isn’t a lot of money to risk on a rental.
Amazon 4K UHD VOD, Amazon VOD, or Google Play
Bruce Willis has been making so many movies that are just a paycheck to him that I actually had to look up his credits to remember the last time he was in a movie that actually took effort. Looper. I would argue he hasn’t made a movie that he was passionate about since Looper came out in 2012… This movie is clearly not an end to that streak, as it has no positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Even if you are a fan of Bruce Willis, this film just isn’t worth your time. It is certainly not worth your money.
Amazon VOD or Google Play
A British movie about a group of military wives who form a choir as a way to cope with their spouse’s deployment in Afghanistan. The reviews are good, but not amazing. It’s the kind of feel-good film that would be a minor hit at the box office under normal circumstances, but I fear it will fly beneath the radar for most people.

This is not the first time we’ve talked about this movie, or even the second. It has hit theaters and had a VOD release before, but starting on Tuesday, it will be available to purchase on a number of platforms. It has 99% positive reviews, so I really hope it finds an audience.
