DEG Watched At Home Chart: Sony Scores Again

May 14, 2020

Bloodshot

Sony continues to have a good year, given the circumstances. They just chalked up a win on the DEG Watched at Home Chart for the third week in a row. However, this week it was Bloodshot that topped the chart by rocketing up the chart 11 places. Why the massive jump? It debuted on DVD / Blu-ray. We haven’t seen an increase that dramatic since we’ve been tracking this chart; however, this is also a film that was still in theaters when Covid-19 forced it into VOD early, so there’s mitigating circumstances.

Last week’s winner, Bad Boys for Life, slipped into second place, continuing its impressive run.

Sonic the Hedgehog was next, slipping one spot to third. This Paramount offering has yet to hit DVD / Blu-ray, so it should climb back up the chart when it does.

Jumanji: The Next Level remained in fourth place. For those keeping track, this means Sony had three of the top four spots on this week’s chart. Furthermore, the studio had one more film in the top 20, as Little Women held down 11th place.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker fell to fifth place and with it playing on Disney Plus, its VOD and DVD / Blu-ray viewings are competing with streaming viewings, so it will likely quickly fall off of this chart.

Birds of Prey rose a couple of spots to ninth place. Why mention that? Because it is the first of five Warner Bros. releases on this week’s list. This includes The Way Back, which rounded out the top twenty. The other three were all new releases, starting with Gretel and Hansel in 14th place while Justice League Dark: Apokolips War was right behind in 15th place. We have our first TV series in the top 20 with Rick and Morty: Season Four landing in 17th place.

The only other new release to chart was Arkansas in 12th place.
