Limited and VOD Releases: Get to Nomi these Limited Releases
June 28, 2019
It is not a particularly busy week for limited releases, but there are a few that are worth checking out. This includes The Chambermaid, but it is two documentaries, Maiden and You Don’t Nomi, that are the most interesting to me.

Secondary VOD Releases:
This film focuses on a chambermaid in a fancy hotel, who is trying to make a better life for her daughter, but has to work such long shifts that she never sees her daughter. The reviews are 100% positive and I really think it has a shot at doing well at the box office.
This film has the most star power of any film on this week’s list and some of the loudest buzz. It also has the worst reviews in the main list. I hate it when that happens.
A documentary about the first all-women sailing team to compete in the Whitbread Round the World. This inspiration sports film is earning 97% positive reviews and could do really well for a documentary. On the other hand, sports films tend to do as well as the sport they feature and sailing isn’t very popular.
This film is earning some of the loudest buzz on this week’s list and also some of the weakest reviews. Perhaps the star power will help it over come its reviews, but that will only last during its opening weekend, if at all.
This is one of several films on this week’s list that are earning good reviews, but not great reviews. It is also a foreign-language film and that will further hurt its box office chances.
This film is earning 69% positive reviews, which are not good enough to thrive in limited release. On the other hand, maybe it will find an audience on the home market.
A re-release of the 1968 documentaries about the 1967 Miss All-America Camp Beauty Pageant. There are only six reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, but all of them are positive.
A family vacation with a single mother, her young son, and her new boyfriend goes wrong. The reviews are right on the border between merely good and good enough for limited release. It’s a slow week for limited releases, but I still think this one will fail to find an audience in theaters.
A documentary about Showgirls, which was a critical and box office bomb. However, since then it has become a cult hit despite its reputation. The reviews are excellent and this is the kind of film that could find a small, but receptive audience in theaters. It will thrive better on the home market.
Killers Anonymous - Reviews - Video on Demand
The only secondary VOD title on this week’s list has no positive reviews.
