Home Market Releases for March 5th, 2019
March 6, 2019
It’s a weird week at the box office. There are no massive releases; Creed II, is by far the biggest release of the week. However, there are a ton of releases that would make the regular list in a normal week, but have been pushed into the Secondary Blu-ray list, mainly because I have nothing to say about them. There are some contenders for Pick of the Week, including The Favourite on Blu-ray Combo Pack and Liz and the Blue Bird on Blu-ray. It came down to a literally coin-toss here and The Favourite won.

Busted Oscar-bait. It’s not a bad movie by any reasonable definition of that word, but it also isn’t award-worthy and suffered due to the competition. The only extra is an audio commentary track, which is a bit of a disappointment. It is still worth checking out for most and picking up for fans of the cast. It isn’t a contender for Pick of the Week, on the other hand.
This box set contains the three movies from the popular Anime. The reviews on My Anime List range from good to great, so fans of the show will want to pick it up.

The sequel to Creed beat it at the box office, although its reviews were a little weaker. It is still excellent. Extras include a few featurettes and some deleted scenes. This isn’t great for a first-run release, but it is still easily worth picking up. It likely wouldn’t be a Pick of the Week contender during a slower week, but it is a relatively slow week.

A movie based on a beat ‘em up video game and almost all movies based on video games have earned bad reviews. This was no exception. Was it unfairly judged by the critics because it was a video game movie? If not, does it at least have some cheesy appeal? Read our review to find out.
I think this is the sixth recent release to take advantage of the theatrical release for Hidden World. I think. It could be five, it could be seven, it could be even more. The fact that I’ve lost count says a lot.

This is one of the best-reviewed films of 2018 and it is also one of the year’s biggest limited release hits. It was a major Oscar-player, but it wasn’t able to turn many of its nominations into wins. On the downside, the only extras are a single featurette and some deleted scenes. Even so, it is the release I’m most excited to see and the Pick of the Week.

I think all but the most hardcore fans of this franchise have been burned out by the shows. And they are making a third show.
Usually DVDs like this don’t make the list, but Bohemian Rhapsody really boosted Freddie Mercury in the minds of audiences.

This is one of the best-reviewed films of 2018 and one of the best documentaries at the box office in a year that saw many, many documentaries do well at the box office. It even won the Oscar for Best Feature-length Documentary. Sadly, it is only coming out on DVD, but it is still a Pick of the Week contender.

Two more Hallmark Channel original movies. Neither have any reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, but both as selling well.
The show ends on a mixed note. It’s not terrible, but it is a step down from the first few seasons.

This film underperformed at the box office when compared to its reviews / production budget. Will it find a larger audience on the home market? Or will it struggle here as well? Read our review to find out.

A movie spin-off of Hibike! Euphonium, which is widely seen as one of the best Anime franchises of all time. Sadly, it still hasn’t been released on Blu-ray here. Maybe if this Blu-ray sells well it will finally get here. I really hope so. It is certainly a Pick of the Week contender.
Why would you buy this? Super Bowl LIII is widely considered the worst Super Bowl of all time. Even if you are a Patriots fan, this isn’t worth watching. I guess if you really, really hate the Los Angeles Rams, or you know a fan of the Los Angeles Rams you hate even more, it is worth hate-buying, but there are better ways to spend your money.

Busted Oscar-bait. It’s not a good movie, but is it strange enough to watch, if you are curious.
This TV franchise includes a series and a series of TV movies. It’s been going on for a long time, but there are never any reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
