Theater Averages: Puppies Rescue the PTA Chart
September 6, 2018
No film reached the $10,000 club over the three-day weekend, but Pick of the Litter came close with an average of $9,539 in two theaters.
None of the rest of the other new limited releases got within halfway to the $10,000 club. Ya Veremos was playing in 369 theaters, which is a lot for a limited release, so its average of $4,898 is good. I don’t think it’s good enough for significant expansion, but it is still good. Likewise, Active Measures was playing on iTunes, so its average of $4,755 in two theaters was quite good as well. Let the Corpses Tan struggled with an average of $3,973 in three theaters. A Paris Education was close behind with $3,467 in its lone theater. Distant Voices, Still Lives only managed $2,395 in one theater.
There were several other releases that missed the Mendoza Line ($2,000/theater), some of which missed that mark by a large margin. Big Brother only managed an average of $1,649 in 25 theaters. Cynthia was close behind with an average of $1,460 in 21. The Little Stranger really struggled earning an average of just $847 in 474 theaters. Return of the Hero was last with $761 in its one theater.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:
