Movie Website Updates for August 5 - August 11

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates, including this week's winner, The 40-Year-Old Virgin - Official Site.

Another week, another huge update. Most of the new features are under the About the Movie section and include Cast & Crew bios and Production notes. The other addition are the TV spots; on most sites there are only one or two TV spots, but this site has seven TV spots, granted, many of the same scenes are reused, especially the chest waxing scene. Add in all the old features, the great selection of background music and the two sections marked coming soon, (clips and interviews) and this is clearly the winner of the undefiled Weekly Website Award.
The movie opens tomorrow and the only changes from last week are the reviews.
Big update this week with plenty of concept art, behind the scenes shots and the first two parts of an interview with Terry Gilliam including text and audio clips.
Unusual site that is missing most of the regular features but has some fun extras and some really sharp music. I especially like the Shoot the Sheep game. SHEEP ATTACK!!! On a side note, I think the 80s more than any other decade emphasized style over substance, and while that sucked if you grew up then, it does mean making movie about the 80s much easier with the distinctive sights and sounds.
The flash site launched this week, and it is subdued but fitting. There is a little bit of animation, but mostly in the form of fades and a tiny bit of sound and background music. There are a couple of problems mainly with the bios, I don't like having to scroll through all of the bios and would much rather have a menu to choose which bio I want to read. Also, occasionally the background image and the test are a little too similar in color, which makes reading the text difficult.
The site starts out on a site called eslave, a parody of Ebay for slave trading, and clicking any link takes you to main movie site. The main movie site has all the usual features plus extras like interviews and clips from screenings. There is also a timeline marked coming soon.
The flash site went live this week and it's got all the usual features, video and audio clips between sections, and even some minor extras. Add in different background music for each section and you should have a great site, however, it was missing something that I just can't place my finger on. Something that keeping the site from reach its full potential. It's still a very good site, just not great.
Not much has changed in the past two weeks.
The rest of the features were added to the site, including two more webisodes. Overall this is an excellent site that really sells the movie.

No changes in a while, but a very good site nonetheless.
Just the synopsis and the trailer. The trailer looks cute, but there are a lot of potential pitfalls in a story like this. Taking kids and putting them in adult situations is inherently funny, Big is a perfect example of this. But a story of young love, really young love, can also quickly turn creepy.
The flash site is up and it has all the usual information for a documentary plus a lot more style than usual. Each section starts with an animated intro and shows a pop-up quote and fact. (You can also check out these separately as well.) The teaser trailer is on the site, but it is far too much teaser for my liking.
No real changes since the site won the weekly website award.
A lot of updates this week with all of the usual features added plus several videos. They include an intro to the trailer by Wes Craven, three clips, two behind the scenes looks and three interviews. While this is a lot of video, the format didn't bring it together as a cohesive whole. Some more style would have helped it flow better.
A few clips were added to the site in time for tomorrow's release.
The placeholder site was completely redesigned and all of the usual features were added.
Simple site, even for a documentary and it didn't do enough to sell the film.
The full site is up, but outside the basics there's not much here. In fact, the bios are still marked coming soon, as are four clips. The background music does work well with the movie and sets the mood, if mood is the right term here.
There's a new animated intro to the site, which won't tell you much more than what you knew at the end of Underworld.
All the usual features were added to the site, as well as some additional information about Steven Strait.
