IMAX - International Edition
February 27, 2005
IMAX numbers are hard to find, for international IMAX number it's doubly so. Working on the international numbers I was able to come across box office figures for half a dozen IMAX films from four markets.
Aliens of the Deep continued its run in the U.K. with $66,089 this week for a $177,335 total.
Ocean Wonderland 3D added $19,770 on two screens to its $1,345,776 in Australia.
NASCAR: The IMAX Experience saw its weekly box office grow by 13% in Mexico to $16,130 while playing in one theatre. So far the film has brought in $30,387 during its two week run there. The film has been playing for longer in Australia having made $475,000 there.
We no longer have weekly date for The Polar Express: The IMAX Experience's run in Mexico, but it did make $709,159 since it opened there 13 weeks ago. The film earned $15,500 at the Warner Village Miramar Samsung IMAX® Theater in Taipei Taiwan, but unfortunately we don't have a total box office for that market.
Ghosts of the Abyss is also still playing in Australia. This week it added $11,861 from 2 screens to its $3,434,005 total.
Everest, the second highest grossing IMAX film of all time, also saw its weekly take rise in Mexico, this time by 23% to $6,066 for the week and $11,012 since it opened in the beginning of February.
