Cowboys are Golden

Brokeback Mountain was the big winner today at the Golden Globes taking home four of the seven statuettes it was up for. The film is still expanding into more and more theatres, so these awards couldn't have come at a better time.

Reactions:

• Brokeback Mountain was the big winner tonight taking home four awards, but Walk the Line was close behind with three.
• As far as surprises go, there weren't many. I thought Judi Dench might win for her performance in Mrs. Henderson Presents for sentimental reasons, the win for Reese Witherspoon was hardly an upset.
• The same can be said about best screenplay. While I would have put money on Match Point, Brokeback Mountain was the favorite going into tonight's ceremonies.
• I assume Philip Seymour Hoffman already has his Oscar acceptance speech written and memorized.
