DVD Rentals - Transformers Steady on Top

There were seven new releases to chart this week, but The Transformers held strong down just 14% remaining in first place with $8.62 million in rentals for the week and $18.59 million in total.
The best of the new releases was Mr. Brooks, which opened with $7.39 million, while Meet the Robinsons placed third with $6.54 million. Surf's Up slipped to fourth with $4.82 million for the week and $18.85 million during its run. Meanwhile, Grindhouse - Planet Terror remained in fifth place with $4.77 million for the week and $10.55 million in total, which compares very well to Death Proof's six week running tally of $11.31 million.
The best of the rest was Hostel II with $4.53 million in rentals for a seventh place debut. The next new release, Home of the Brave, was well back in 15th place with $2.55 million. The TV mini-series, The Company, debuted in 19th place with $1.76 million. Fido was the DVD Pick of the Week, but it only managed 27th place with $910,000; however, for a limited, that was a strong start. Finally, Buried Alive opened in 30th place with $840,000 for the week.
