Good Knight on the Per Theater Chart
July 22, 2008
During its record-breaking weekend, The Dark Knight set the record for best per theater average for a wide releases, so it comes as no surprise it tops the per theater chart this weekend, and did so with $36,283. The only other film to top $10,000 was Transsiberian with an average of $17,308 in two theaters while Before I Forget came close with $9,676 in one theater.
None of the rest of the new releases came close to $10,000 with The Legend of God's Gun the best of the rest with an average of $5,032 in three theaters. While not spectacular, this is a solid start. Next up was Lou Reed's Berlin, which earned $8,280 in two theaters for an average of $4,140. Mad Detective was even weaker with just $2,682 in its lone theater. There were three other new releases this week, none of which cracked the Mendoza line. They were On the Other Hand, Death with $1,537, Take with $1,264, Wonderful Town with $1,154. All three were only playing in one theater each.
There was only one film to reach a major milestone since last week as Tell No One expanded and just reached $1 million over the weekend.
