Whatever Really Works on the Per Theater Chart
June 23, 2009
Whatever Works led all releases on the per theater chart this weekend, earning $266,000 in 9 theaters for an average of $29,574; however, given its mixed reviews, I'm a little doubtful about its chances to expand over the coming weeks.
The overall box office leader, The Proposal, also reached the $10,000 plateau with an impressive average of $11,004, while the re-release of Brighton Rock was the only other such film at $10,626 in one theater.
The best of the rest of the new releases was Under our Skin, which opened with $7,043 over the weekend and $9,563 over five days.
$9.99 returned to theaters with a solid, but unspectacular average of $5,610, while Dead Snow was right behind with $5,363 in one theater.
The Windmill Movie was not as successful, but with $3,731 over the three-day weekend, but it earned a reported $9,123 over five.
There appear to have been no major milestones reached during the past week, but there were a few movies that came close and should get there by next week.
