Per Theater Chart: Gravity Completes its Second Orbit
October 15, 2013
Gravity remained on top of the Per Theater Chart with an average of $11,800. Unfortunately, it was the only film in the $10,000 club.
There were several new limited releases with a wide range of results. God Loves Uganda did very well with an opening of $7,300 in its lone theater, while As I Lay Dying was right behind with $7,143, also in one theater. Broadway Idiot was next with $5,514, again in one theater. Design is One also played in one theater, while it earned $4,236. Escape from Tomorrow was playing in more theaters, 30 to be exact, but only managed an average of $2,110, barely above the Mendoza Line. The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete wasn't as lucky with an average of $1,730. It was playing in 147 theaters, which is a lot for a limited release, but this is a bad result, regardless of the theater count. Likewise, Romeo and Juliet was playing in a lot of theaters, 461, but it bombed with an average of $1,128. Ghost Team One was well back with an average of $490 in 15 theaters.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple of Per Theater Chart alumni:
