Beijing Love Story led the way on the per theater chart with an average of $18,708 in 9 theaters. This is surprisingly strong, given its weak reviews. Next up is the overall box office leader, The LEGO Movie, with an average of $13,204 and the overall second place film, About Last Night, was right behind with an average of $11,384.

There were not many other new limited releases that we have numbers for, and only Jimmy P. avoided the Mendoza Line with $7,191 in one theater. Adult World wasn't as lucky with an average of $1,892 in two theaters. Finally there's Girl on a Bicycle, which only managed a little more than $30,000 in 51 theaters with an average of $638.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • The Invisible Woman hit $1 million just before the weekend. That's as far as it will go, but it is still impressive for a limited release, as most such films never reach any major milestones.
  • As I mentioned last week, Nebraska topped $15 million last Monday.
  • Philomena surpassed $30 million over the weekend, which is great for a limited release. In fact, it is just ahead of Delivery Man and just behind The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, both of which were saturation level releases.
  • August: Osage County has shown amazing legs for a film with reviews that are barely over the overall positive level. It hit $35 million early in the weekend and by the end of the weekend it had beaten Walking with Dinosaurs' final tally.
