Synopsis

Siblings Karin and Simon are visiting their parents and their little sister Clara. That evening, other relatives will be joining them for dinner. This sequence of family scenes in a Berlin flat creates a world of the everyday: Coming and going, conversations, all manner of doings, each movement leading to the next, one word following another. It is a carefully staged chain reaction of actions and sentences. And in between, silent gazes and anecdotes about experiences. Putting the absurdities of daily life on display, the film assembles seemingly unspectacular details and snippets into a choreography of everyday life.

DVD and Blu-ray Releases for January 13th, 2015

January 13th, 2015

This week on the home market is about as busy as last week was, but there are far fewer contenders for Pick of the Week, as Gone Girl just crushes the competition and the Blu-ray is the Pick of the Week. The next best picks are Empire: Season Five and Love is Strange on Blu-ray. More...

Limited Releases: Call in the Calvary

August 1st, 2014

Calvary poster

There are an even dozen films on this week's list, but only Calvary is earning good reviews and strong buzz. Hopefully this will translate into ticket sales, or it will likely be a very bad week for limited releases. There are also a couple of documentaries that could do well in limited release, Finding Fela! and Rich Hill, but neither has the potential for breakout success. More...
