Like many retail businesses, the home market does most of its sales in the last quarter of the year. And while technically the fourth quarter doesn't begin until October, like any good business, the movie industry tries to extend its prime business season as long as possible, which explains why Iron Man 2 is coming out this week instead of next. Unfortunately, that screener is late and I won't be able to review it. (In fact, its one of those weeks where it seems more screeners are late than arrived on time.) There were plenty of other DVDs / Blu-rays that came out this week, but the presence of Iron Man 2 did scare away a lot of prime competition, so much so that I'm awarding it the Pick of the Week, specifically the Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy Combo Pack edition.

Normally when it comes to these box office prediction contests, we choose the movie based on which film has the best shot at coming out on top of the charts.
However, in this case that's Spider-Man 3 and no other film has a snowball's chance in Hades of winning the weekend, even if Spider-Man breaks the record for worst sophomore stint drop-off.
Instead, we are going with the widest of the modest group of limited releases, Georgie Rule.
Since none of the new releases seem likely to be box office hits, we're going with that theme and giving away some smaller films that came out during the past year, and that might have slipped under your radar.
To win, you must simply predict the opening weekend box office of Georgie Rule.
Whoever comes the closest to predicting the film's opening 3-day weekend (Friday to Sunday), without going over, will win a copy of Twelve and Holding and The Gathering.
Meanwhile, the person who comes the closest to the film's opening 3-day weekend (Friday to Sunday), without going under, will win a copy of Unknown and Prey.
Entries must be received by 10 a.m., Pacific Time on Friday to be eligible, so don't delay!

I'm still waiting for the first "Must Have" DVD of the year (the first one of those doesn't show up until mid-February), but at least there are more that nearly make the grade this week than so far this year.
Flyboys - Collector's Edition is better than the reviews would indicate, as long as you are in the right frame of mind.
Lucky Louie - The Complete First Season is a great show but a little demented for a mainstream audience, and the same can be said for Viva Pedro - Pedro Almodovar Classics Collection - Buy from Amazon.
But in the end I went with Red Doors - Buy from Amazon as the DVD Pick of the Week.
Perhaps an unexpected choice, but it's a movie that should be seen by more.
