DVD Releases for January 13, 2009

January 13th, 2009

It's still early in the year and people are dealing with the bills from their Christmas shopping, which means they don't have as much disposable income. This reduces the demand for DVDs, and studios are hesitant to put out marquee releases. Looking at this week's selection, you can really tell. At the top of the list, Supercop - 2-Disc Special Edition is probably the best bet, but Appaloosa on either DVD or Blu-ray is up there as well. More...

Secret to Towelhead's Success

September 16th, 2008

Towelhead opened with just over $50,000 in 4 theaters for an average of $13,206, which was the best of on this week's chart. A Secret also cracked $10,000 on the per theater chart, but only barely. Its average was $10,088 in four theaters. More...

Kit the Smart Choice on the Per Theater Chart

June 24th, 2008

The prestige release of Kit Kittredge: An American Girl went smashingly as it topped the per theater chart with an outstanding average of $44,059, which bodes very well for its expansion on Friday. Meanwhile, Encounters at the End of the World grew by more than 4% to earn $18,519 in its lone theater. On a side note, Get Smart, which won the race to the top of the overall box office chart came within a hair of the $10,000 club with an average of $9,891. More...

Limited Release are Getting Heavy

June 20th, 2008

Just three new limited releases this week, while My Winnipeg expands into its native Canada. Of the three new movies, Kitt Kittredge has the best shot at expanding, mainly because its wide release is already scheduled for next weekend. Additionally, the advertising push for its wide release could help it during its one week limited engagement. More...
